Here we are....the engine build is already in progress. Before you is a 352 bored .020,crank turned 10/10 with a vintage Crane Fireball cam(specs are confidential but think 284 duration with 520 lift). In the background you can see the recipient of the "transplant",a '64 Fairlane.
Here we see Brandon stripping the valves and springs to prepare for the inevitable...cleaning and scraping.
How many supervisors do you need? Ask Brandon,Rick watches over his shoulder while I take the pic. When did you shift to light beer B.
Outside the "shop" resides my ongoing project. On a previous page was a pic showing this rig in the garage.I wasn't kidding about how rough it is.Hopefully we can sort out the mechanics and improve the looks over the winter!
This photo shows how tight a fit the truck is in the garage. When we roll it in and out there is 1/4" to spare. That means, the weatherstrip on the door "gently caresses" the roof of the truck.Time for a bigger shop,eh Tracy?
As you can see,we've replaced the original floor with 1/8 checkerplate. What you can't see is the new subframe of 2" channel and 4x4 tubing.
Timing cover on.
Buttoning up the heads.Assist to Dad for putting heads on block and the 80/90 ft pds torquing.Hard to pull torque that is more than your body weight!
This photo shows an old FE trick.Oil gallery is tapped for a 1/8th pipe plug with a 1/16th hole drilled tru. This keeps oil down in the block where it belongs, not up in the valve pan.
Oil pump installed and torqued.
Brandon stands beside motor with tri-power set-up temporarily installed for dimensional checks. He's grinning and should be,thats a fine looking induction system.
Fuel pump, harmonic balancer, and oil filter all installed and awaiting more parts.
